About Chris Long
As the son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, Chris Long had little other desires as a kid than becoming a professional football player. Born into a massive body frame, Long made the most of it in his pursuit of his NFL dreams. He accepted a scholarship to the University of Virginia to play defensive end for the Cavaliers. Long had a standout senior season with 79 total tackles including 14 sacks and was named as a unanimous All-American as well as winner of the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation's top defensive end. Long was selected with the 2nd overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He had a standout 2010 season where he led the NFL in QB hurries with 41.5. Long went on to win back-to-back Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. While in the league, he was highly respected for his work with charitable causes. Long donated his entire salary in 2017 to different education charities and was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of hte Year in 2018.
