About Howie Long
Howie Long is a former NFL defensive end and current football analyst. Long played college football at Villanova University, leading the team in tackles and earning honorable mention All-American honors in his senior seasons. In the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft, Long was selected by the Oakland Raiders, spending his entire 12 year career with the team. With the Raiders, Long became a top defensive end, earning eight Pro Bowl honors, three first team All-Pro mentions, two NFL Defensive Lineman of the Year Awards, and many other accolades. His role as a feared pass rusher helped the Raiders win Super Bowl XVII in 1983, and he was voted by his peers to the NFL 1980s All-Decade team. Long retired in 1993, playing 179 games and recording 91.5 sacks. In 2000, Long was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, solidifying his status as one of the top defensive ends of his time. Long now works as a football analyst for Fox Sports NFL coverage.
