About Chris Hinton
Despite a quality 13 season NFL career, Chris Hinton admits that he will only ever be known for one thing: he was the guy that was traded for John Elway. Hinton was an offensive tackle at Northwestern University where he was a team captain, an All-Big Ten selection, and an All-American. As a highly talented prospect, Hinton was drafted 4th overall to the Denver Broncos in the 1983 NFL Draft. Shortly after, Denver made a trade with the Indianapolis Colts that sent Hinton to the Colts while the Broncos acquired NFL legend John Elway. Hinton still went on to have an outstanding NFL career for the Colts, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Minnesota Vikings. Throughout his career, he was a 7x Pro Bowl selection and he started 172 of 177 games in 13 seasons. Hinton was just the second player to be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor since the team had moved to Indy in 1984.
