About Chase Blackburn
Chase Blackburn found success in football at an early age, leading his high school to a 13-1 record and the Ohio High School Football Division II Championship as a senior in high school. Following that victory, Blackburn went up to the University of Akron to play football for the Zips. He was converted into a hybrid defensive player, rotating between linebacker and defensive end. He started for 3 years at Akron, compiling career numbers of 293 tackles with 38.5 of those for a loss. Following his college career, he went undrafted in the 2005 NFL Draft but was signed as a free-agent by the New York Giants. Blackburn spent 7 seasons with the Giants, starring on the special teams and earning playing time on the field. With the Giants, Blackburn won 2 Super Bowl rings, including Super Bowl XLVI where he picked off Tom Brady to help seal the win for his team. Following the 2012 season, Blackburn left his former team to join the Carolina Panthers as a member of their linebacker core. He is currently the Panthers special teams coordinator.
