Chad Pennington

Chad Pennington is a retired professional quarterback who played for the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Pennington’s sports career began in third grade when he started playing basketball. Pennington began playing football as a freshman in high school and throughout his high school career he played, baseball, basketball and football. Pennington stuck with football throughout high school because he knew he had a better change of getting into college with football. Pennington attended Marshall University where he was offered a scholarship. Pennington helped lead Marshall to the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship game, but lost to Montana 22-20. The New York Jets selected Pennington as the 18th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. Pennington only made three appearances in his first two seasons with the Jets, but during his third, he was able to lead the Jets to a 5-0 record before he injured his rotator cuff. Pennington was released from the Jets on August 7, 2008 and he signed with the Miami Dolphins on August 8. He won NFL Comeback Player of the Year in his first season and led the Dolphins to the AFC East title in his first season.  Pennington currently works as an analyst for FOX.
