About Carlos Pena
Carlos Pena is formerprofessional first baseman and was once one of the top prospects in baseball. Since Pena was drafted in 1998, Pena has played for the TexasRangers, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros and the Kansas City Royals. The Texas Rangers selected Pena as the tenth overall pick in the 1998 MLB Draft. Pena spent the beginning of his career in the minor league and he was finally called up to the Major Leagues in 2001. Pena was traded to the Oakland Athletics on January 4, 2002. In July 2002, Pena was traded to the Detroit Tigers when Dmitri Young experienced a season-ending injury. The Rangers officially released him on August 17, 2014. During his career, Pena has been an All-Star, AL Comeback Player of the Year and AL home run co-champion. He was also awarded the Golden Glove Award and the Silver Slugger Award.
