About Brian Orakpo
Brian Orakpo is a retired 10-year NFL veteran at linebacker. Orakpo was born in Texas to Nigerian born parents, and he began playing football at a young age, eventually becoming successful enough to receive an athletic scholarship to the University of Texas in 2004. A four year player, Orakpo dominated the competition, winning two All American awards, multiple freshman of the year awards, and just about every linebacker award possible in his 2008 senior season. In his college career, Orakpo amassed 132 tackles with 22 sacks and six forced fumbles, making him an intriguing target for NFL teams in the draft. At the 2009 NFL Draft, Orakpo was selected 13th overall by the Washington Redskins, immediately making an impact by earning Pro Bowl honors in his rookie season. He made his second Pro Bowl in 2010, solidifying him as one of the league’s top linebackers. Orakpo was named to a total of four Pro Bowls over ten seasons.
