About Brian Kelly
Brian Kelly is one of the more successful coaches in college football today who currently serves as the head coach at LSU. Prior to joining the Tigers, Kelly presided over one of the most successful periods in Notre Damehistory. From 2009-2021, he became the Fighting Irish's all-time winningest coach and took the program to one national championship appearance and two berths into the College Football Playoff.
Born in Massachusetts, Kelly attended Assumption College in1979, playing linebacker for the team for fourseasons. In his four seasons at the school, Kelly letteredevery year and became a star for the team’s defensive squad.Following his graduation, Kelly decided topursue a coaching career, serving as linebackers coach and defensive coordinatorat Assumption untilleaving in 1987 to become the defensive coordinator at Grand Valley State. Kelly was promoted tothehead coaching position in 1991, leading the team for 12 years, winning multiple national championshipson the way.
In 2004,Kelly was named the head coach at Central Michigan, coaching the team for twoseasons until leaving to serve as headcoachat Cincinnati. In three seasons with Cincy, Kelly won two BigEast titles.
