About Bobby Jones
Bobby Jones had a tremendous college and pro career that was recognized with election to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. Jones first caught the attention of the basketball world as a silver medalist for the 1972 U.S. Olympic team. He also had a banner career at the University of North Carolina and was named a consensus second-team All-American in 1974. Jones began his professional career in the ABA with the Denver Nuggets. He became one of the best defensive players in the game, earning two ABA and eight NBA All-Defensive First Team selections. Between the two leagues, he was selected to five All-Star teams. Jones spent the final eight years of his career as one of the main contributors to the Philadelphia 76ers, which were one of the best teams of that era. The Sixers won the 1983 NBA championship, the same season he was named Sixth Man of the Year. Jones' jersey is retired by Philadelphia and he has spent time in retirement as a youth basketball coach.
