About Bill Rogers
Bill Rogers was the 1981 PGA Tour Player of the Year. That year, he won The Open Championship and finished second at the U.S. Open. He also finished the year second on McCormack's World Golf Rankings and was named to the Ryder Cup team. In 1982, he had some success as well, winning the Grand Slam of Golf and finishing in a tie for third at the U.S. Open. Rogers originally joined the PGA Tour on a full-time basis in 1975 and captured six victories on the circuit in his career. He played college golf at the University of Houston and as an amateur was named to the 1973 Walker Cup team. Rogers retired from the PGA Tour in 1988. He went on to serve as the director of golf at San Antonio Country Club for 11 years. Rogers also played on the Champions Tour occasionally.
