Bill Lee

Nicknamed “Spaceman,” Bill Lee is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher. Bill was born into a family that loved and played the game of baseball. Bill was a southpaw, or left-handed pitcher, and was well known for his unique pitching style. Bill did not have a lights out fastball and as a result he focused on off-speed pitches including his own version of the Eephus pitch. The ‘Space Ball’ as it was called was a high arching and very slow pitch that got batters off balance and out of their usual rhythm. In his career Bill racked up a 119-90 record with a 3.62 earned run average and an impressive 713 strikeouts and made the MLB All-Star team in 1973. Since the end of his days playing the game, Bill has been a part of writing four books, and was the star in the 2006 documentary Spaceman: A Baseball Odyssey.
