About Barry Sanders
Barry Sanders is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Sanders played his entire ten-year career with the Detroit Lions and was selected to the Pro Bowl every time. He was also either a first or second team All-Pro each season. Sanders rushed for 15,269 yards, which ranks third all-time, and 99 rushing touchdowns. He led the league in rushing yards four times and rushing scores once. Sanders was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 1994 and 1997 and won the NFL MVP award in 1997. During his MVP year, he became the third player to rush for over 2,000 yards. Sanders shocked the football world when he retired in his prime and close to the all-time rushing record in 1998. His jersey is retired by the Lions and he is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sanders also had a banner college career at Oklahoma State. He set NCAA records with 2,850 yards and 42 touchdowns on the way to winning the 1988 Heisman Trophy. He was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame for his time with the Cowboys.
