Anthony Banda plays as a left-handed pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on August 10, 1993, in Corpus Christi, Texas, he is a left-handed pitcher known for his fastball and slider. Banda stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 221 pounds.
The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Banda during the 10th round of the 2012 MLB Draft to start his professional baseball career. The Arizona Diamondbacks welcomed Anthony Banda to their MLB roster on July 22, 2017. The pitcher has played for multiple teams throughout his career including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers experienced a major career boost from Banda during the 2024 season. The Dodgers received major support from Banda after he joined the team through a midseason trade from the Cleveland Guardians when he pitched 49⅔ innings with a 3.08 ERA. The postseason saw him pitch eight innings while giving up only one run.
Banda has encountered various personal obstacles outside of his baseball career. A car accident in Corpus Christi resulted in the deaths of Banda's brother Mathew Banda and a family friend in November 2022. The baseball career of Banda continues despite his family tragedy.
The 2025 season sees Banda maintaining his essential role as a Dodgers bullpen member while providing depth and success to the team.
