About Alex Anthopoulos
Alex Anthopoulos is one of the most forward-thinking executives in baseball. Anthopoulos currently serves as the President of Baseball Operations and General Manager of the Atlanta Braves. Before joining the Braves in 2017, he spent two seasons as vice president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Anthopoulos first built up respect in league circles as the general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2009-2015. He was known for building up the Blue Jays scouting department during his time in Toronto. In 2015, Anthopoulos saw the culmination of his hard work when the club won the American League East division and made their first playoff appearances in 22 years. The Sporting News recognized him as Executive of the Year as well.
Anthopoulous, a native Canadian, began his baseball career as an unpaid intern with the Montreal Expos. By the time he left the Expos in 2003, he had worked his way up to the organization's assistant scouting director. Anthopoulous joined the Blue Jays at that point as scouting coordinator before being promoted to assistant general manager.
