Womens' World Cup Hero Carli Lloyd Signs Book Deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

After a championship run, off field opportunities often flood in for many athletes.  There has been no shortage of wide-ranging offers for members of the World Cup champion U.S. women’s national soccer team.

Final match hero Carli Lloyd has been the beneficiary of a lion’s share of those inquiries.  The final match star most recently inked a book deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Lloyd’s representatives sold book rights in auction to HMH.  Her memoir will be published in the fall of 2016.

Lloyd certainly has a lot to write about after her hat trick put the U.S. on top 5-2 over Japan this July.  With game-winning goals in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medal matches, it was not the first time she had come up clutch.

Since her career with the national team began in 2005, Lloyd has scored 77 goals in 206 matches.  She also stars on the club circuit for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League.

This recent book deal is just the tip of the iceberg for Lloyd.  As she continues to travel this fall with her USWNT on their victory tour of exhibition games, expect more deals off the pitch to fall her way.
