Winged Foot Scholar-Athlete Banquet Names CBS Sports Broadcaster Gary Danielson Keynote Speaker

The Winged-Foot Scholar-Athlete awards banquet is getting a speaker from their backyard of southwest Florida. On April 25th, Bonita Springs resident and CBS Sports broadcaster Gary Danielson is the keynote presenter. 

The 28th annual event takes place at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. A silent auction and cocktail reception kicks off festivities from 5:30-7 p.m. 

Individual tickets for the banquet cost $275 and tables of eight are $2,000. Scholarship finalists will each receive $5,000 and the winner will be presented $10,000. 

Danielson has been the lead analyst for the SEC on CBS since 2006. He was a commentator on college football for ESPN and ABC earlier in his broadcasting career. 

Danielson spent two seasons as a starting quarterback at Purdue University. He spent two years post-college playing in the World Football League before finding a home in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.

Danielson spent nine seasons with the Lions and finished his playing days with the Cleveland Browns. In total, he threw for 13,764 yards and 81 touchdowns.
