Villanova Basketball Coach Jay Wright Keynotes Special Olympics Fall Festival

Villanova brought their biggest sports celebrity to the table to help host the state of Pennsylvania's Special Olympics Fall Festival. Men's basketball coach Jay Wright was the keynote speaker for the festivities. 

The event took place November 10-12 and Wright addressed attendees during the closing ceremonies. A student-run committee of 90 students worked year-round to plan the 29th annual festival. 

There were over 1,000 athletes came from around the state to participate in six sports. There were also 4,000 volunteers who participated, including 500 people affiliated with Villanova athletics. 

Wright has been the head coach at Villanova since 2001 and has won five Big East regular season titles. The highlight of his career came in 2016 when he led the Wildcats to the NCAA Championship.

Wright's Villanova teams have made 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament. He is a two-time Naismith College Coach of the Year and five-time Big East Coach of the Year. 

Wright began his head coaching career at Hofstra, taking the program to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2000 and 2001. He was recently named the recipient of the 2018 John R. Wooden Award.
