Usain Bolt Makes Appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show to Race YouTube Star

We do not often think about our Olympic stars when they are out of competition, but legendary sprinter Usain Bolt never stays out of the spotlight for long.  On Tuesday, he made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to answer the challenge of an eight-year-old YouTube sensation.

Demarjay Smith has garnered notoriety for his videos where he is featured during a variety of athletic tasks and serving as a personal trainer.  He had called out his Jamaican countryman Bolt, wanting to race against the Olympic champ.

Ellen staged the race for the pair, with Smith pulling it out in the end.  Bolt also hung around to talk about the 2016 Olympics and what he plans to do once he leaves the track for good.

Bolt’s achievements on the track are unprecedented.  He has a record six gold medals and currently holds the world records in the 100 and 200 meters.

Bolt also has 11 World Championship titles to his credit.  He is the most marketable sprinter of all-time and one of the biggest celebrities in sports today.

With another Olympics set for this summer in Rio de Janeiro, Bolt is focused on one more gold medal haul.  He is set to retire following the 2017 World Championships in London.
