University of Florida Coaches Jim McElwain and Mike White Hold Speaking Event on Campus

Next week, the two most important athletic coaches on the University of Florida will team together for a special speaking event.  The school has arranged for Gators football coach Jim McElwain and basketball coach Mike White to address attendees inside the University Auditorium on April 12th.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be moderated by Journalism Department chair Ted Spiker.  There will also be a live audience question and answer session with McElwain and White.

Students have first access to tickets and can pick up a maximum of two starting at noon on Tuesday.  An hour before the event, the general public will be able to get whatever seats are still available.

McElwain led the way for both coaches starting out their first seasons with the Gators.  Florida went 10-4 overall and won the East division in the Southeastern Conference.

For his efforts, McElwain won SEC Coach of the Year.  It was a great debut in Gainesville after three seasons as the head coach at Colorado State.

White also had a successful first season, going 21-15 and 9-9 in SEC play.  The Gators got into the NIT and advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to George Washington.

Previously, White was the head coach at Louisiana Tech for four seasons.  The Bulldogs won at least 27 games three times and three regular season conference titles under his watch.
