Two-Time ESPY Award Winner Kyle Maynard Speaks to Georgia Tech Student-Athletes

Two-time ESPY winner Kyle Maynard is one of the more inspiring stories uncovered by ESPN's yearly awards show.  He was able to share his message in greater depth with student-athletes at Georgia Tech yesterday.

Maynard was the keynote speaker for GT's Total Person Program.  Prior to his presentation, a video showing the various feats he has accomplished was shown.

The over 100 Yellow Jackets in attendance were able to hear directly from Maynard about overcoming obstacles.  He also gave them advice about how to navigate the dual-responsibility of school and their athletic pursuits.

Maynard was born without hands and legs but he has not let that deter him from living an active lifestyle.  Early on, he played youth league football and wrestled.

Maynard's most impressive achievement came in 2011 when he became the first quadruple amputee without the use of prosthetics to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.  He also has pursued a mixed martial arts career and opened his own crossfit gym.

In 2004 and 2011, Maynard won the ESPY for Best Athlete with a Disability.  His autobiography, "No Excuses: The True Story of a Congenital Amputee Who Became a Champion in Wrestling and in Life",  was a New York Times bestseller.
