Top Horse Trainer Bob Baffert Participates in Unique American Pharoah Autograph Signing

It is that special time of the year again in the sport of horse racing.  With the first leg of the Triple Crown taking place Saturday at the Kentucky Derby, there are plenty events leading up to the big race in the Bluegrass State.

One of the most unique things marking the week was an autograph signing in Louisville featuring legendary trainer Bob Baffert.  He was at the Palace Theater on Wednesday to sign special commemorative American Pharoah Maker's Mark bottles.

Baffert was also joined by the owner's of last year's Triple Crown winner, Ahmed and Justin Zayat, and Rob Samuels of Maker's Mark.  The bottles went on sale May 1st and are decked out in blue and yellow, the official colors of Zayat stables.

In a state that still is deeply invested in the action on the track, it was no surprise that the tickets for the signing were sold out in minutes.  There is also no question that Baffert has played a great part in fostering buzz around the sport in the modern era.

Baffert helped lead American Pharoah to the first Triple Crown in 37 years in 2015.  Overall, he has four Kentucky Derby wins, six victories at The Preakness Stakes, and two triumphs at the Belmont Stakes.

Baffert's four Derby victories tie him with D. Wayne Lucas for the second-most ever recorded by a trainer.  This Saturday, he has another Mor Spirit in the field for the 142nd running of the race.

Baffert has also won the last two Breeders Cup Classics.  In 2009, he was inducted into the Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame.
