Top Golfer Rory McIlroy Gets New Nike Commercial in Masters Lead-Up

Masters week is upon us and Nike is rolling out an ad campaign centered around one of their top athlete endorsers.  As golfer Rory McIlroy goes for his first green jacket, he certainly has the marketing power of "the swoosh" backing him off the course.

The spot titled "Enjoy The Chase", shows McIlroy's grueling preparation to be the best.  It was produced by Wieden + Kennedy Portland.

Nike signed McIlroy to a five-year endorsement in 2013 then saw him rise to the top of their golf brand with the decline of Tiger Woods.  The Northern Irishman had starred alongside Woods in multiple campaigns for the company, but the world's former world number one golfer is noticeably absent this time around.

Currently checking in at third in the World Golf Rankings, McIlroy is one of several young stars in golf.  He has held the top spot on the list for 95 weeks already in his career, a mark that ranks fourth all-time since the chart began in 1986.

McIlroy has won four major championships to date.  During his first Grand Slam win at the 2011 U.S. Open, he shot -16, a tournament record for lowest score under par.  The following year, McIlroy set another mark, winning the 2012 PGA Championship by a record eight strokes.  He is also a three-time Ryder Cup champion.
