Subway Rolls Out Ad Campaign to Accompany Marcus Mariota's Strong NFL Debut

One of the ads that have caught the eyes of football fans through the early weeks of the NFL season is the new Subway spot featuring Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota.  Mariota has parlayed a tremendous college career, squeaky-clean image, and solid start for the Titans into various commercial opportunities.

Subway has rolled out a series of “Trophy Talk” ads with Mariota.  During the commercials, the quarterback is eating a sub while talking to an animated quarterback trophy.

In addition to the Subway deal, Mariota has partnerships with companies like Nike, Beats, First Hawaiian Bank, and Island Insurance.  If he can maintain what has been an impressive foray into the NFL, the endorsement opportunities should continue to pile on.

Through three games, Mariota is completing over 60 percent of his passes while throwing eight touchdowns against just two interceptions.   Those eight touchdowns in his first three contests are an NFL record.

In the Titans opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mariota led the team to victory and became the first signal caller to ever record a perfect passer rating in his debut.  After being drafted second overall out of Oregon in May, Mariota had the league’s highest selling jersey for the month.

The success is nothing new for Mariota after a banner college career with the Ducks.  He led his school to the national title game and won the Heisman Trophy in his final campaign in Eugene.
