Retired Baseball Slugger Ron Kittle Speaks at Salvation Army Event Next Month

Former baseball slugger Ron Kittle is making a visit to St. Charles, Illinois next month. He will be speaking at The Salvation Army Volunteer and Donor Appreciation Dinner.

The event is being held on May 19th at 7:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center. It is free for volunteers and donors to attend.

Sponsorship levels for the dinner range in price from $250-$1,000. The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps provides assistance to people across Kane County.

Kittle made a memorable big league debut for the Chicago White Sox in 1983. He hit 35 home runs and 100 RBI on the way to American League Rookie of the Year honors.

Kittle was also named to the AL All-Star team and helped guide the White Sox to their first postseason appearance since 1959. During a ten-year major league career, he had three stints in Chicago and also played for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles.

In 2005, Kittle talked about his baseball career with the book, "Ron Kittle's Tales from the Dugout." He currently designs custom benches made out of baseball equipment.
