Retired All-Star Dante Bichette Speaks at Alpine Bank Junior College World Series Banquet Next Month

Dante Bichette made an indelible mark on the Colorado Rockies in the formidable days of their franchise. He will speak about some of the special moments of his career at the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series banquet.

The event takes place on May 26th at the Two Rivers Convention Center. A social hour kicks off the festivities at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Individual tickets went on sale this week at the JUCO office for $50. The 60th JUCO World Series takes place May 27-June 3rd at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.

As a former junior college player himself, Bichette was a great fit for the banquet. After stints with the California Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers, he was named to four National League All-Star teams with the Rockies.

In 1995, Bichette hit a walk-off home run in the first game at Coors Field. Colorado made their first playoff appearance that year and he went on to be runner-up for the NL MVP after hitting .340 with 40 home runs and 128 RBI.

Bichette was hitting coach of the Rockies during the 2013 season. Later this month, he is being inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame with his "Blake Street Bombers" teammates.
