Retired 8-Time All-Star Bill White Keynotes Jackie Robinson Tribute on Saturday

The Black History and Culture Showcase in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is holding a special Jackie Robinson exhibit. The display commemorates the 70th anniversary of Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier.

The event takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Former eight-time MLB All-Star Bill White is the keynote speaker.

The exhibit and White's keynote are free and open to the public. Saturday also marks Jackie Robinson Day in the major leagues when all players will wear his #42 jersey.

White came up with the New York Giants in 1956, but had his greatest success with the St. Louis Cardinals. He made all his All-Star appearances while in St. Louis from 1959-65.

In 1964, White finished third in National League MVP voting and the Cardinals won the World Series. He went on to spend three seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies and one more campaign in St. Louis before retiring in 1969.

White went on to a distinguished broadcasting career, including 18 years working New York Yankees games on radio and television. He also served as President of the National League from 1989-94.
