Recently Retired Baseball Star David Ortiz Makes Appearance in TurboTax Commercial

While Spring Training looms, former baseball star David Ortiz is finding plenty to do in retirement. This Sunday, TurboTax released a hilarious new commercial with the ex-slugger.

In the spot, Ortiz is teaching tennis at a local country club. After smashing through several tennis balls, he asks a question through the TurboTax app on his phone about whether he can use the ball as a deduction.

The colorful and always personable Ortiz is not likely to fade into the spotlight anytime soon. He was one of the biggest endorsement earners off the field and still factors to be a prominent baseball personality in the future.

Ortiz posted MVP-caliber numbers in his final season with a .315 batting average, 38 home runs and an American League-leading 127 RBI. He was the recipient of the Hank Aaron Award for the second time in his career.

Overall, Ortiz finished with 541 homers, a mark that currently ranks 17th in baseball history. He is the all-time leader among designated hitters in home runs, RBI and hits.

Ortiz was instrumental in three World Series wins for the Boston Red Sox and was MVP of the 2013 Fall Classic. He was a ten-time All-Star and seven-time Silver Slugger winner.
