Philadelphia Eagles Linebacker Vinny Curry Keynotes Big Green Dinner

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Vinny Curry has gone on to NFL success, but the roots of his football journey remain firmly entrenched at Marshall University. On April 21st, he is returning to the school to serve as the keynote speaker at the Big Green Dinner.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center. Most recently, Curry made a $200,000 donation to the Big Green Scholarship Foundation.

With his contribution kicking things off, the athletic department announced a fundraising initiative called, "Vinny Curry Project." A large sum of the money will go towards renovating the Thundering Herd's locker rooms.

Curry was a linebacker at Marshall from 2008-11. In his final season, he collected 11 sacks and was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.

The Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. After making gradual improvements during his first two seasons, Curry broke out with nine sacks in 2014.

While a switch in defensive styles made Curry less of a factor, he is now prime to be a huge part of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme. This offseason, he signed a five-year contract extension to remain in Philadelphia.
