Milwaukee Brewers Star Ryan Braun Speaks at University of Miami First Pitch Banquet

This past weekend, Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun returned to where he launched his baseball career. He was the speaker at the University of Miami's First Pitch Banquet.

The event took place on Friday at the Watsco Center Fieldhouse on campus. A cocktail reception started at 6 p.m. followed by the introduction of the Canes 2017 team at 7 p.m.

Individual tickets to attend were $85 and a table of eight could be purchased for $680. The first 250 people that registered received an Adidas Miami baseball hat.

While at Miami, Braun helped the program reach the College World Series twice and was the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year. The Brewers selected him with the fifth overall pick of the 2005 MLB Draft.

Braun made his Milwaukee debut in 2007 and went on to be named an All-Star five times in his first six seasons. In 2011, he was named National League Most Valuable Player.

The following year, Braun hit a league-leading 41 home runs and won his fifth Silver Slugger Award. Last year, he hit .305 with 30 home runs and 91 RBI.
