Middle Tennessee Announces Sportscaster Greg Gumbel as Speaker for Athletic Association Donor Dinner

Sportscaster Greg Gumbel will be at a sold-out event next week at Middle Tennessee State University.  He is the featured speaker at the Blue Raider Athletic Association annual Donor Celebration Dinner.

The dinner will be held on August 12th at 6 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro.  The Jones College of Business helped arrange Gumbel to speak.

In addition to Gumbel's presentation, there will be a live band and cash bar.  There will be several awards handed out that recognize donors for their contributions.

Gumbel works for CBS Sports as a play-by-play voice on the NFL and a host for the network's college basketball coverage.  Since 2014, he has also been the host of the long-running "Inside the NFL" that airs on Showtime and the NFL Network.

In 2001, Gumbel became the first African-American to call a major Americna professional sports championship at Super Bowl XXXV.  Between his two CBS Sports stints, he worked for NBC Sports from 1994-98.

Gumbel was one of the early employees at ESPN and was a familiar face early on as an anchor on "Sportscenter".  His first gig in television came at WMAQ-TV in Chicago, where he won two local Emmys.
