Legendary Football Coach Mike Ditka Speaks at Around the Horn Fundraiser

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon recently got an assist from another coaching icon from the city. Iconic Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka spoke at Maddon's Around the Horn fundraiser.

The second annual event took place on Friday night at Valley Country Club in Maddon's hometown of Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Ditka talked a great deal about the Cubs skipper and his own origins growing up in Pennsylvania.

There was also an auction of sports memorabilia and other sports celebrities in attendance. Maddon's fundraising efforts go towards helping economically challenged kids in Hazelton.

Ditka was a five-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro as a tight end in the NFL. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player.

After retiring following the 1972 season, he became an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys. He was named head coach of the Chicago Bears and spent 11 seasons guiding the franchise.

Ditka led the Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX and was a two-time NFL Coach of the Year. He also coached the New Orleans Saints and spent time as a popular broadcaster.
