Hall of Fame Defensive Back Darrell Green Keynotes Military Bowl Luncheon

The Military Bowl pays special tribute to the Armed Forces and had a fitting participant this year with the Naval Academy. Players from Navy and their opponent, the University of Virginia, gathered on Wednesday for a special luncheon welcoming them to the bowl.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green spoke at the event in Washington D.C. Green's son, Jared, a former UVA player, joined him and also spoke. 

The luncheon emcee was ESPN personality Bram Weinstein. The Military Bowl was contested at Navy's home stadium in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday afternoon and the Midshipmen came away with a convincing 

Green was a seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro. He played his entire 20-year career with the Washington Redskins and is regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks in league history. 

Green set a record at the age of 42 as the oldest defensive back in NFL history and recorded at least one interception in 19 straight seasons. He was also known for his speed and one of the NFL Fastest Man competition four times. 

Green is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame. He is currently an associate athletics director at George Mason University.
