Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jordy Nelson Speaks at Milwaukee Journal Sentinel High School Sports Awards Next Month

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is holding their inaugural High School Sports Awards May 17th. One of the region's top sports stars, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson, is serving as the guest speaker.

The event will be held at 8 p.m. Pabst Theater. It will honor some of the area's top amateur athletes and also those performers who have overcome hurdles to have success.

Individual tickets are $35 and group rates are also available. The evening is sponsored by Aurora Health Care.

After being a second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Nelson has gone on to be one of the best receivers in the league. Last year, he recorded 97 catches for 1,257 yards and a league-best 14 touchdowns.

Due to the strong performance after tearing his ACL in 2015, Nelson was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. He has three other 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his career.

In 2014, Nelson was named a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro. He caught nine passes for 140 yards and helped the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV.
