Former Virginia Tech Football Coach Frank Beamer Speaks at VHSCA All-Star Banquet

Former Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer's name still looms large in the state. Today, he is speaking at the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star football game banquet. 

The event is being held at the Inn at Wise. Beamer will certainly have words of wisdom to impart to a collection of the best prep players in Virginia. 

The VHSCA All-Star Game takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Carl Smith Stadium. Individual tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for kids age 7-12 and free for kids six years old and younger. 

Beamer served as the head coach at his alma mater from 1987-2015. He won 238 games and seven conference championships with the Hokies. 

Beamer was a three-time Big East Coach of the Year and two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year. He led Virginia Tech to 23 straight bowl game appearances and seven season-ending top ten rankings. 

Beamer got his first head coaching opportunity at Murray State. He is currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Virginia Tech and a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee.
