Former New York Yankees Star Ron Guidry Speaks at Syracuse Chiefs Hot Stove Dinner January 20th

Before he became one of baseball's top pitchers, former New York Yankees star Ron Guidry took a minor league tour through Syracuse. He will be back in the city on January 20th as the speaker at the Syracuse Chiefs Hot Stove Dinner.

The event takes place from 5-7 p.m. at the Oncenter. Individual tickets are $75 for adults, $35 for children and there is also a special $125 VIP rate that includes a private autograph and photo session with Guidry.

In addition to his presentation, there will be a full dinner and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Syracuse Challenger Baseball League, RBI Baseball League and District 8 Little League.

Guidry spent his entire 14-year major league career with the Yankees. He won 170 games in pinstripes and was a four-time American League All-Star.

Guidry was known as one of the best defensive pitchers in baseball and he was the recipient of five Gold Gloves. In 1978, he went 25-3 with an ERA of 1.74 on his way to AL Cy Young honors.

That season, New York won the second of back-to-back World Series titles. From 1989-88, Guidry served as Yankees captain and his jersey was retired by the franchise in 2003.
