Former Michigan State Basketball Player Anthony Ianni Speaks to Middle School About Bullying

After a successful college basketball career at Michigan State, Anthony Ianni went on to a more important mission.  Last week, his anti-bullying tour made way through Delta County in Michigan.

Ianni spoke to students at Gladstone Junior High School.  His message discouraging bullying resonated through the Gladstone gym.

There are not many individuals more uniquely qualified to speak on the topic than Ianni.  He became the first known Division 1 college basketball player with autism.

The story of Ianni’s difficult road to athletics success has inspired countless individuals.  He visits many schools in Michigan as the National Motivational Speaker at the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.

While with the Spartans, Ianni played on two Big 10 Championship teams and went to a Final Four.  He won the program’s 2011 Tim Bograkos Walk On Award and the 2012 Unsung Player Award.

He also graduated with a degree in Sociology from MSU.  Ianni and his family never let his Pervasive Development Disorder diagnosis at age four slow him down.
