Former Four-Time World Champion Boxer Laila Ali Speaks at Middle Tennessee State Wednesday

Tomorrow, Middle Tennessee State University is having dual celebrations for Women's History Month and Black History Month. They are bringing in an excellent speaker, former four-time world champion boxer Laila Ali.

The event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Tennessee Room in the James Union Building on campus. It is free and open to the public.

The overall theme of MTSU's Women's History Month is, "Honoring Trailblazing Women in Business." Ali certainly knows something about paving her own way and can also speak to the legendary accomplishments of her father, the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

Ali competed in boxing from 1999-2007 and finished 24-0 with 21 knockouts. She brought a much larger audience to women's boxing and held five different belts.

In 2001, Ali fought Joe Frazier's daughter, Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, in the first pay-per-view boxing event ever headlined by women. She has many interests outside of the ring as well and is a former president of the Women's Sports Foundation.

Ali is a regular panelist on the CBS Sports Network show, "We Need to Talk." She has also launched a Helen of Troy line of hair care products.
