ESPN Broadcaster John Buccigross Films PSA to Promote Sled Hockey

Broadcaster John Buccigross has long been known for his association with and love for hockey.  Now, the popular ESPN personality is lending his time to raise awareness for sled hockey.

Buccigross has teamed with USA Hockey and Labatt Blue on a sled hockey PSA.  Athletes are shown in the spot, which started running this month, playing the sport and sharing their story.

Labatt Blue has invested significant resources in sled hockey.   They have been in the process of creating additional leagues and programs across the U.S.

Buccigross has been at ESPN since 1996 and started off as an ESPNNews anchor. For seven years, he hosted the Emmy nominated NHL 2Night.

Now, Buccigross is featured prominently as the weeknight co-host of the 11 p.m. SportsCenter.  He still dabbles in hockey as the play-by-play voice of the NCAA Frozen Four Hockey Championship.

Buccigross’ career started with Cape 11 News in Massachusetts and he also worked for WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island before making the jump to ESPN.  In addition to his work for sled hockey, he is on the Advisory Board for You Can Play, an organization that deals with homophobia in sports.
