Basketball Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning Makes Appearance at Miami Macy’s

As Miami's first basketball star, Basketball Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning still gets a big following everywhere he goes.  On Sunday, another large crowd turned out to see Mourning at Macy's in the Aventura Mall from 1-3 p.m.

The first 100 in attendance got the chance to meet Mourning.  He was on hand at Macy's Mens/Home store to promote the Miami Heat Tissot watches.

In addition to Mourning's appearance, fans had a chance to win tickets to upcoming Heat games, signed memorabilia and items from Tissot.  The new Tissot NBA PRC 200 watch is the first official timepiece of the NBA and the first 30 people who purchased it at the event also recieved a signed basketball.

As Vice President of Player Programs and Development for the Heat, Mourning remains an active part of the Miami community.  He also hosts a yearly schedule of events through his foundation including the wildly popular Summer Groove.

On the court, Mourning's arrival to Miami in 1996 ushered in the first era of successful Heat basketball.  He had two stints with the franchise and became a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

The seven-time All-Star is also second in team history in scoring and played a vital role on the Heat's first championship team in 2006.  Mourning was originally selected second overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 1992 and spent the first three seasons of his career with the club.
