Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew Speaks at the Schear Family Heart in Sports Community Conversation Series Wednesday

Baseball fans everywhere know the name of Hall of Famer Rod Carew. On Wednesday, an enthusiastic crowd is sure to greet him as he speaks at the Schear Family Heart in Sports Community Conversation Series.

The event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Marriott in Ohio. Carew will have plenty entertaining stories from his baseball career.

He will also discuss his recent heart and kidney transplant procedures. Individual tickets will be available at the door for $10 and proceeds benefit The Heart Institute of Dayton.

Carew played 19 major league seasons and was an 18-time All-Star. He won seven American League batting titles and finished with 3,053 hits.

Carew debuted with a bang, winning the AL Rookie of the Year with the Minnesota Twins in 1967. He was named AL MVP in 1977 after hitting .388.

Carew has his jersey retired by both the Twins and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1991.
