Philadelphia Eagles All-Time Leading Scorer David Akers Speaks at Chamber of Commerce Banquet

Retired kicker David Akers is an all-time fan favorite for the Philadelphia Eagles. He recently made an appearance in the region as the keynote speaker at the Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce's PV Stars Best of the Valley gala.

The fourth annual event took place at RiverCrest Golf Club in Upper Providence Township. Akers had a unique presentation that centered around the acronym, PAT.

While that stood for "point after touchdown" during his playing care it now refers to "perseverance, attitude and teamwork" when he speaks. In addition to Akers' talk, awards were handed out to local businesspeople and organizations.

Akers played for three teams, but is best-known for his 12 years with the Eagles. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro, making all but one of those teams while in Philadelphia.

Akers made it to six NFC Championship Games with the Eagles and played in Super Bowl XXXIX. He is the all-time leading scorer in franchise history and a member of the team's Hall of Fame.

Akers also had a memorable season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011 when he set NFL records with 44 made field goals and 166 points. That season, he also kicked a then-record 63-yard field goal.
