Former Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Priest Holmes Named Boys & Girls Club Guest Speaker

This Saturday, the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Missouri has tapped one of the NFL’s most prolific running backs in recent history as guest speaker.  Priest Holmes made his name with the Kansas City Chiefs and he will head to Joplin to speak at the annual Club Comingo Banquet.

The banquet will be held at the Downtown Casino Resort Pavilion.  Tickets are $75 per person or $750 for a table and they can be purchased by calling 417-623-8072.

Holmes worked his way into being one of the best players in the NFL after being an undrafted free agent signee of the Baltimore Ravens in 1997.  He played a secondary role with the Ravens and won a Super Bowl before breaking out with the Chiefs.

In his first year in Kansas City, Holmes was the NFL rushing leader.  The following season he would win the first of back-to-back league rushing touchdown titles along with the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.

Holmes finished his career as a three-time Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro pick.  He ended up with over 8,000 yards on the ground, with over 6,000 of those in his Chiefs tenure.

Kansas City inducted Holmes into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2014.  He currently serves as the NFLPA’s Former Players Chapter President and as an analyst for the Longhorn Network.
