Vijay Singh Biography

Vijay Singh is a professional golfer from Fiji and is often nicknamed "The Big Fijan" for his origin and his size. After finding success in Asia and Europe throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Singh joined the PGA Tour at the start of the 1993 season where he won his first PGA Tour event and was awarded the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors. Singh found constant success throughout his early years on Tour and in 1998 won his first major tournament by capturing the 1998 PGA Championship. Singh won another in 2000, this time the Masters Tournament, and continued his success into the early 2000's. 2004 was the best year of his career, winning 9 times on Tour including the PGA Championship and his success catapulted him to the top of the World Golf Rankings for the first time. Singh continued to find success throughout the mid-2000's and had another standout year in 2008 where he won 3 Tour events, finished top of the money list for the 3rd time of his career, and captured his first FedEx Cup. Singh was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006 with 59 professional wins (34 on the PGA Tour) and he still holds the record for most consecutive major appearances with 67 (1994-2011).
