About Tom Shields
Tom Shields won an Olympic gold medal in 2016 as a member of the U.S.'s 4x100 individual medley relay team. He swam in the prelims of the event, positioning Team USA for the gold. Shields qualified for the Rio Games by finishing second to Michael Phelps in the 100 and 200m butterfly at the U.S. Olympic Trials. He also has a gold from the 2015 World Championships in the 4x100IM relay. In 2014, Shields won gold in the 100 and 200m fly at Nationals. While at the University of California, he won seven NCAA titles.
