About Thomas Everett
Thomas Everett is a former NFL safety, playing for three teams over his nine seasons. Prior to his time in the NFL, Everett was a standout defender at Baylor University, earning All-American honors in 1986, as well as being the first ever Jim Thorpe Award winner, awarded to the nation’s top defensive back. Everett was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 1987 NFL Draft. In five years with the Steelers, Everett picked off 16 passes, cementing his spot as one of the top safeties in the NFL. After a contract dispute, Everett was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 1992, becoming an important part of a defense that would dominate the league in route to winning the 1993 Super Bowl. Everett signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1993 off-season, playing in Tampa for two seasons before retiring in 1995. Everett would leave the league after winning two Super Bowls, playing in one Pro Bowl, and recording 21 interceptions with 11 fumble recoveries.
