About Shawn Kemp
Shawn Kemp is a retired professional power forward / center for the NBA. Kemp attended Trinity Valley Community College for one semester before declaring himself eligible for the 1989 NBA Draft. The Seattle SuperSonics selected Kemp as the 17th overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft. During his time in Seattle, Kemp was a 5x All-NBA All-Star and a 3x All-NBA Second-Team selection. During the 1994 FIBA World Championships, Kemp played for the US National team that took home the gold medal. During the 1995-96 season, Kemp helped lead the SuperSonics to their first NAB Finals appearance since 1979. Kemp spent 1997-2000 with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he battled weight problems and often did not have drive, but was considered an NBA All-Star. The Cavaliers traded Kemp to the Portland Trailblazers in 1999 where he played one season. Kemp signed with the Orlando Magic as a free agent in 2002. Kemp tried to make an NBA comeback during the 2005-06 NBA season.
