About Sharon Lokedi
Sharon Lokedi is a Kenyan long-distance runner who made a stunning professional debut by winning the 2022 New York City Marathon in 2:23:23, her first marathon. She gained prominence at the collegiate level at the University of Kansas, where she enjoyed an illustrious track career and became a 10-time All-American and 12-time Big 12 champion while pursuing studies in nursing and business.
Lokedi won the 10,000 m at the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships and set multiple school records at Kansas in events like the 3,000 m, 5,000 m, and 10,000 m. In 2025, she broke the Boston Marathon course record with a time of 2:17:12, outrunning the two-time defending champion Hellen Obiri. She also competed at the 2024 Paris Games, finishing fourth in the marathon.
Under Armour is a key sponsor for Lokedi and she resides in Flagstaff, Arizona, training year-round.
