Sam Shields Biography

Samuel George Shields III, often known as Sam, currently represents number 37 as a professional cornerback for the Green Bay Packers. Shields joined the National Football League in 2010. Prior to his professional debut, he was a Florida native born in Sarasota in 1987. Shields excelled at football, baseball, and track throughout his high school years. At the time of his high school graduation, he was ranked the 17th best receiver in the country and one of the state’s top sprinters. Shields received numerous prestigious college scholarships and ultimately chose to attend the University of Miami. He amassed an outstanding number of receptions his rookie year, totaling 37. He was voted Miami’s special teams player of the year his junior season and entered the 2010 NFL Draft immediately after college. Although he faced a run-in with the law that same year, he ultimately was able to sign with the Green Bay Packers and has been a vital contribution to their roster ever since.
