About Ron English
Ron English played college football for four seasons at the University of California, Berkley before beginning a career as a college football coach. English first went to Arizona State University as a graduate assistant where he found a niche as a defensive backs coach. He held that role at San Diego State, back to Arizona State, and then Michigan in 2003. After three seasons as defensive coordinator for the Wolverines he was promoted to defensive coordinator beginning in the 06 season. English then moved over to Louisville to fill in the same role for the Cardinals. English spent just one season at Louisville before being hired as the head coach at Eastern Michigan University. English took two seasons to fully implement what he wanted to at EMU and the result was positive for the 2011 season as he led the team to their best season in 17 seasons with a 6-6 finish. After another poor season in 2012 however, English was fired as head coach of the Eagles in 2013.
