About Romeo Crennel
Following a college football career at Western Kentucky, Romeo Crennel became a graduate assistant for the football team and then a defensive line coach with them. Thus began his coaching career which spanned over 40 years. After moving to three other colleges as an assistant coach, Crennel made the jump to the NFL and joined the New York Giants. Crennel moved throughout the League serving in various defensive assistant roles until he became a defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in 2000. He made a name for himself with head coach Bill Belichick as they helped the Patriots to win 3 Super Bowls in the early 2000s. Crennel was given his first shot as a head coach by the Cleveland Browns in 2005 where he spent 4 seasons. He then took over as defensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs and was their head coach during the 2012 season. Crennel finished his legendary career in Houston from 2014-21, serving as the Texans defensive coordinator and a senior advisor for football performance in his final year.
